About the HAWK Center

The HAWK Center provides free academic support and athletic enrichment to students in 1st- 8th grades who participate in the Mentor program.   The Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 3:00-5:00 and on Wednesday from 2:00-4:00.

We have created a place for students to get the structure and help they need to complete their homework and participate in activities that further engage their minds.  Once their homework is complete there are enrichment activities available to them.  Examples include: Math facts, reading and writing, and stimulating board games.  In addition, volunteers come once a week to provide outside play. The program coordinator, Lorraine Christensen, along with adult and student volunteers are available, Monday through Friday to help and support your child.

On Fridays we focus mainly on enrichment.  Chess is taught by volunteers Jean Glasser and Jorg Westerheide. In the fall and in the spring we offer Soccer through a program called Kick-it, run by Morgan Mutscheller and Rachel Dougherty from Marin Catholic varsity girls soccer team.

We are currently looking for more volunteers to help in the HAWK Center.  If you are interested in helping with homework, playing games, or creating outside athletic play, we would love your help.
